The story of Icarus

The image depicts an alternate ending to the story of Icarus.

“Fly too low and your feathers will be weighed by the sea, fly too high and you’ll be scorched by the sun.”

For years, these words rung through Icarus’s mind, he was afraid to leave. Although he did live a comfortable life, he always knew something was amiss. He wanted to break free, he wanted to grow and explore. He was determined to leave.

For years, he analyzed the words his father told him. And one day, he understood how.

On a moonlit night, he set to leave home, where the moon will guide his path.

“I’m not afraid anymore,” he repeated to himself.

With a crack, he emerged from his shell.

His wings grew enormously, and it shone in through the night sky.

The TIGER value of Growth resonates with this story, although Icarus was traumatized from his fear of flying, he was passionate to leave Crete, and he sought for years until he finally figured out how. Many times, we find ourselves trapped and unable to break free (from our shells), but sometimes it takes more than a little courage to grow.
