Kuala Lumpur.
A tribute to MH370.
Brief:
To design a 250m2 2 storey memorial architecture for the flight MH370. Students are required to put themselves in the shoes of the families of the missing, the special forces who helped in the process of finding MH370. A space that acknowledges all who were involved in the flight. They re required to understand the spatial linkages, and meaningful spatial experiences. Whilst considering the site planning, building design aspects. The students should be able to juxtapose issues such as environmental and contextual issues into a comprehensive design.
"
To instill a paradigm shift.
To remind the people of the lost we once had.
To remind the families, that the victims aren’t just a number among casualties.
The design incorporates essence of what we know of the flight into the design.
To remember the happy days.
To hope for a better tomorrow
The design takes elements from the plane, extracting itself as the vessel that once bounded the passengers. It unboxes itself into a curvilinear sort of vortex, where the walls are reinterpreted as spaces of interaction. It is the bounded by a contrasting skin, creating a space within spaces, a comforting and intimate environment. The users are bought into the world of the ‘what ifs’ of MH370. A world beyond our imagination
This project was my first try in using Rhinoceros 5 entirely for a project, while technical drawings were done on Autocad.
